Kenny Wallace Race Draws Strong Field
at West Plains Motor Speedway
The evening opened with the ever popular autograph/meet & greet session
held in the grandstand area where Kenny Wallace again charmed locals with
his friendly manner as his infectious laughter rang throughout the blue barn.
Wallace repeated his sentiments reguarding the area, and it seeming as though
"he's coming home", each time he comes to West Plains.
Wallace brought his 19 year old nephew, Steven Wallace of Mooresville, NC,
and son of veteran Nascar racer, Rusty Wallace, with him this trip. The junior
Wallace found a ride for the evening in the #28 Hobby of Jesse Shearin, of
West Plains. Steven drives in the Busch Series, regularly, but was throughly
delighted with his 10th place finish in the Hobby feature of the evening.
Kenny Wallace seemed to have setup problems as his front left wheel raised
to the point where crew members and fans wondered if he'd flip his #36 St.
Louis Cardinals clad modified as he excellerated in the corners. He finished
17th in the modified feature where Jeremy Payne of Cave City, AR, claimed
the event win, and took the $1,000 winner's check and trophy home.
